Guillver's Travels DVD Giveaway! -- CLOSED
Hey everyone! You may recall I did a review for the film Gulliver's Travels a few weeks back, well now I'm happy to give you guys the chance to win a copy of the movie, too!

Gulliver's Travels tells the story of Gulliver who gets shipwrecked on an island filled with little people and madness ensues! Check out my full review here.
I would definitely recommend this film if you're a Jack Black fan. There's many Jack Black quirks including his musical ability in a scene towards the end which is too funny and I think my favorite scene. The cast overall was really great, my favorite was actually Horatio although Jason Segel's British accent wasn't the best. If you're kids are preteens and older, definitely check it out, but younger I would maybe skip over a few scenes. But it is a cute film and cute update to the classic tale.
Buy It! Guilliver's Travels will be available on Blu-Ray and DVD on April 19th. Pre-Order it today!

Gulliver's Travels Review!
Hey everyone! My next review is for the film, Gulliver's Travels starring Jack Black, Jason Segel, and Emily Blunt.

Everyone knows the story of Gulliver's Travels, at least part of the story, how he is shipwrecked and awakes to find himself prisoner of a race of people 1/12th his size. The image of a man lying on the ground with tiny people tying tiny rope over his body is nearly more famous than the story itsself. This film is the modernized version of that tale. While that part of the plot is the same the rest is completely updated.
Jack Black is Guillver who plays the little guy in a big company, the New York Tribune, he's the mailroom employee who has a crush on the travel editor of the paper named Darcy (played by Amanda Peet). When a travel writing position opens up Guillver forges some writing samples and applies for the job in hopes this will get Darcy to like him. Darcy hires him and his first gig is a 3 week solo boat tour of the Bermuda Triangle. Chaos ensues and he ends up in the land of Lilliput.
He eventually wins the kingdom over and becomes the general of their army much to the former General Edward's disappointment. He befriends Horatio (played by Jason Segel) who was actually imprisoned for having a crush on the Princess (played by Emily Blunt) because she was courting the General. He also gives some updates to the kingdom including stories of Gulliver's life where people re-enact stories from that Gulliver has told them he has done, in actuality they're scenes from popular films like Titanic and Star Wars.
While this film is supposed to be a family friendly film there are some questionable scenes that aren't really under 13 friendly, including one scene where Guillver puts out a building that is on fire by peeing on it.
The story overall, while it is a love story and the little guy becoming the big hero (both literally and figuratively), is a very unique story. I mean there aren't many stories about giants. Many scenes and updates like how they re-create rock band and Times Square in Lilliput is very cute and clever. I think the effects are pretty cool too.
