Holiday Gift Guide: Novice Review and Giveaway!

17 comments:

Still shopping for the holidays? Have no fear Novica is here. Novica is probably one of my favorite websites it has such a great variety of excellent products for everyone from notebooks to pillows to jewelry, if you need a gift for someone you will definitely find it on here! Artisans from all over the world sell their pieces on here.

I loved this necklace, it's very classic and not too flashy. I've been getting into crystals lately and I was really inspired to pick this Amethyst necklace because of the meaning behind the crystal. Amethyst is a calming stone and promotes balance and peace. It's also said to bring emotional stability and strength. Also it's just a gorgeous stone in general, the purple color is so lovely and just goes with everything.

As their website says: "The last cool glow of twilight is captured in a cabochon of purple amethyst that centers a pretty pendant. Aparna in India presents the necklace, which is crafted from sterling silver with contrasting polished and oxidized details. The pendant graces a classic sterling silver cable chain with a lobster claw clasp."

Overall, it is a very lovely necklace and a great gift for everyone -- I just kept it for myself though, haha. Novica once again does not disappoint, it's so great. Definitely check them out, you won't be disappointed!

Holiday Gift Guide 2013: Novica Review and Giveaway!

Need some last minute gifts? Check out Novica! Novica is a great company where artisans from all over the world sell their wonderful pieces. From jewelry made in Thailand to paintings created in Mexico. They have so many unique gifts, you not only want them, but are inspired by them, too.

I chose their Vineyard Fantasy scarf. I'm giving it as a gift and it came in their wonderful premium gift wrap which is just so pretty.

Seriously, I don't even want to open it, it's too pretty. They apply handmade elements, carefully crafted ribbons, and beautiful brass plates. It's so lovely. It just makes me wish I could wrap that nice. Instead I wrap like a 5 year old, it's pretty hilarious.

The scarf too is a really great quality. A fantasy in lavender, yellow, blue, and orange makes of this scarf the perfect accessory all year round. From Yama Aj Chixot Artisan Group, the cotton scarf is expertly woven on the backstrap loom with techniques developed by the Maya more than a millennia ago. It's currently on back order but definitely check back in a few weeks as they might have more!

Novica is a really great company though. The website says: "The purpose of NOVICA is to create a revolutionary system through which the artists and artisans of the world can display their fine works to a global audience of prospective customers. NOVICA does not charge artists any fees for listing their items on the website. Furthermore, artists remain fully independent--they are free to raise their prices, lower their prices, or remove their items from our website. By cutting out the long strings of middlemen, NOVICA allows both consumers and artisans to get the most out of each and every transaction.

Overall, I definitely was very happy with Novica and their lovely premium gift wrapping. Definitely check them out, you won't be disappointed!

Novica Review and Giveaway!

12 comments:

Hi everyone! My next review is for Novica. You may remember that I did a review for them before and you can check it out here. Novica is a great company that artisans from all over the world sell their wonderful pieces from jewelry to pottery to furniture, they have so many unique pieces and you can definitely find something for everyone.

I received the Margarita glasses, 'Eco Happy Hour' from Mexico.

As their website says: "These beautiful margarita glasses demonstrate Javier and Efren's design skill. Handcrafted using traditional blown glass techniques, the set extends an invitation to share fresh and happiness. Because each piece is handmade, shape and size can vary slightly and tiny bubbles may appear within the glass. This exemplifies the hand-blown technique, making every piece a unique example of blown glass craftsmanship."

I really love these glasses. My roommate and I have been rocking some margaritas but we never have any nice glasses but now we do. We may even have a margarita get together or something now that we have six of them.

They aren't super big but the perfect size and really well made. My roommate and I really love them.

Novica is a great company though, as their website says: "The purpose of NOVICA is to create a revolutionary system through which the artists and artisans of the world can display their fine works to a global audience of prospective customers." I love their mission statement and their whole company, these are real people making great products. They're not a crappy little knick knack from Marshall's but actual artisans making lovely products.

They actually have an awesome new Gift Finder. There are so many easy ways to narrow your search, people are loving it! Things get very specific quickly - Handbag Gifts for the Adventurer, Romantic Christmas Gifts for Her, Yoga Gifts for Men... we even have Cooking Gifts for the Animal Lover Man!

Definitely check them out they have something for everyone, they also have delivery by December 24th guaranteed if ordered Priority Premium Shipping by 12/20/2012, so you can still grab some last minute gifts!

Novica Review and Giveaway! -- CLOSED

Hey everyone! So my next review and giveaway is for Novica. Novica is a great place where artisans from all over the world sell their wonderful pieces. From jewelry made in Thailand to paintings created in Mexico. They have so many unique gifts, you not only want them, but are inspired by them, too.

As the website says: "The purpose of NOVICA is to create a revolutionary system through which the artists and artisans of the world can display their fine works to a global audience of prospective customers.

I chose the Elephant Walk ring. This ring was back ordered for a while but the style was so wonderful that I decided I can definitely wait and I'm glad I did because I really love this ring. I'm a big fan of animals so whenever I see animal rings or jewelry I really hop on them. The shape is quite simple but the details of the elephants walking around is what makes it so, so lovely. It's great because you can wear it with your everyday clothes but also wear it with fancy clothes too. I plan on wearing it a lot. It is made from sterling silver. The website describes the ring as: "Depicted in low relief, five sterling elephants march around a silver band. Wadarat Supasirisuk presents a ring that shows the purposeful pachyderms in silhouette."

I have to also mention that the Novica company is really great to their customers. I was worried about my shipment because it was nearing the 8 weeks (backordered products take 5 to 8 weeks) so I shot them an email and they followed up immediately. I also asked if they could extend the gift code for one of you guys and they did very generously. They were super nice and I do wish all companies would be this easy going!

The presentation of the product is very lovely too, it came in a handmade jewelry box, made of saa paper which is a mulberry bark paper that has been in Thailand for 700 years. The smallest branches are cut to make the paper so the trees are not cut down and continue to grow. It's very durable and makes a great gift box if you are purchasing a piece for a friend or relative, and hey it was a great gift for myself too, haha.

All in all, Novica truly is a great company. I love their mission statement. A lot of times you buy products because they look cute or pretty but don't know where they're from. Here you see the artist or artisan that created your piece, you read their story, learn about their village or country, and in a way it makes you feel relieved and happy. Happy to know that your money is going towards a lovely product for yourself but also towards the actual person that created the product and helping them out. There definitely should be more companies like Novica out there. Definitely check them out, they have everything from clothing to handmade jewelry paintings to tableware to gifts for mom.
