Hey everyone! So my next review and giveaway is for Green Ostrich. Green Ostrich is a great company that specializes in all green. Green Ostrich is dedicated to Earth-friendly, green gifts and green toys to spark a consumer movement that requires environmentally-sound solutions for our lives. They have everything from tupperware to backpacks to flashlights -- all super handy items we pretty much can't live without. I received the Wind 'N Go Ultralight flashlight!
I was really excited for this flashlight for a few reasons. One, we have many flashlights in the house but they all don't work, why? We never put batteries in them, haha. Two, not only is this a flashlight but it also has a Radio, NOAA Weather band radio with telescoping antenna, cell phone charger, high-decibel siren with flashing red emergency LED, glow-in-the-dark ring, and low glow LED all in one. Pretty high tech right? And will definitely help us out in case of a blackout or crazy emergency. I actually have a wind-up radio...somewhere...and it helped my family out a few years ago when there was this crazy blackout. Fortunately for me, I was I think in Europe when this happen so I missed it, haha. But next time if I am here when one happens, I will be super prepared because of this bad boy.
Another great thing is that after one minute of manual winding it is self-powered and recharges for 45 minutes of radio or 90 minutes of light. Now that, is crazy awesome. The light is super strong too and the stations come in quite clear.
One disappointment though is the cell phone charger. I was hoping it would be a USB port or something universal like that but instead it was kind of like a headphone port and it came with a chord, but the other end of the chord didn't fit into my phone. Which stinks because that was one of the things I was most excited for on this Ultralight. So, although I may be able to see in a blackout I won't be able to use my phone if it dies. Poop. Actually, I just read on the website "The cell phone charger for Nokia phones will provide ten minutes of talk time after one minute of winding." But they do sell a Wind 'N Go Cell Phone Adapter kit which will probably allow any other cell phone to be charged on the Ultralight.
That's my only complaint though, overal I did like it. It's a nice size, not too bulky but not small. I like that it is windup too because I had a flashlight that you shook and it would come on but it was a really weak light and actually broke. This one you can tell will last quite a while. I also like how it glows in the dark because yes a tool like this will come in handy for a blackout but not if you can't find it, haha, and at least you will be able to find this guy!
Buy It! Head on over to Green Ostrich's website and browse their enormous selection, believe me you won't be disappointed!
Win It! ONE winner will receive an Ultralight Wind 'N Go for themselves!
